Resources

Here is an incomplete list of resources I recommend checking out if you have an interest in Internet history. I’ll occasionally update this with new entries when they come to mind, so be sure to check back often.

Other cool sites:

Internet Archive – Check out how websites used to look as far back as 1996 with the Wayback Machine, or see what other files await.

One Terabyte of Kilobyte Age – A “GeoCities research blog” by Olia Lialina and Dragan Espenschied

One Terabyte of Kilobyte Age Photo Op – Tumblr which accompanies OTOKA. Since 2013, screenshots of every rescued GeoCities site are automatically posted daily, in order of when a site was last updated.

Archive Team – Team of people who archive parts of the web that face deletion/loss in order to preserve information and pieces of web history.

Books:

Weaving The Web by Sir Tim Berners-Lee (1999) – World Wide Web creator Tim Berners-Lee shares his story of the Web’s development and his hopes for its future.
